Cyberpunk 2077 Attributes
What Are Attributes In Cyberpunk 2077?
The five unique Attributes in Cyberpunk 2077 are Body, Intelligence, Reflexes, Technical Ability and Cool. Each Attribute lets you improve specific Skill Trees that contain Perks.
Body
Body determines your raw physical power, allowing you to force open doors, remove turrets from their base, intimidate NPC’s and even force your way into some vehicles. Your Body attribute is linked to the Athletics, Annihilation and Street Brawler skill trees.
Intelligence
Intelligence determines your netrunning proficiency including hacking into devices and even enemy cyberware. Your Intelligence attribute is linked to the Breach Protocol and Quickhacking skill trees.
Reflexes
Reflexes determine your maneuverability as well as Crit Chance, Evasion and proficiency with Mantis Blades. Your Reflexes Attribute is linked to the Handguns, Assault and Blades skill trees.
Technical Ability
Technical Ability represents your technical know-how in a wide range of instances, from robots to weapons to vehicles. It allows you to unlock Tech locks on doors and make better use of Tech weapons. Your Technical Ability Attribute is linked to the Crafting and Engineering skill trees
Cool
Cool determines your composure and effectiveness in operating under pressure, particularly in Stealth. Your Cool Attribute is linked to the skill Ninjutsu (Stealth) and Cold Blood trees.

How Many Attribute Points Do You Start With?
In Cyberpunk 2077 you start in the Character Creation Screen with 3 Attribute Points in each of the 5 starting attributes, for 15 total points. Before leaving the Character Creator you then need to spend 7 additional Attribute Points in any Attribute you choose. Keep in mind that the maximum you can allocate into an Attribute during Character Creation is 6, so you will need to spread out those Attribute Points quite a bit.
In addition, Attributes control the maximum level of every Skill in the game. In other words, your character’s skills cannot progress higher than the strength of the Attribute they are attached to. For example, a character with an Intelligence of 9 will have a maximum Quickhacking skill of 9 as well.
How Do I Get More Attribute Points In Cyberpunk 2077?
You gain 1 additional attribute points every time your character increases their level in Cyberpunk 2077.
What Is The Max Level For Attributes In Cyberpunk 2077?
The Maximum Attribute Level in Cyberpunk 2077 is 20 Points. In other words, your Attributes can NOT be increased beyond 20 points.
Which Attributes Are The Best?
At their core, Attributes let you build your character towards specific strengths. Want to play a “Strong Solo” style build that does well with up-close melee weapons? You’ll want to focus heavily into the Body Attribute for more melee weapon prowess and perhaps a bit of Reflexes for more critical hit chance. Want to play a “Netrunner” style build instead in order to hack enemies from a distance? Then the Intelligence Attribute will be your best bet. In general, we see that the following build types will work best with the Attributes listed below:
-
Body – Melee Builds, Blunt Weapons, Shotguns, SMG’s and Physical Tasks
-
Technical Ability – Engineers
-
Cool – Snipers, Assassins, Stealth Builds
-
Reflexes – Pistol or Revolver Builds, Blade Builds, Critical Chance builds
-
Intelligence – Hackers, non-lethal builds

Passive Effects Of Attribute Points
Each Attribute in Cyberpunk 2077 also increases some of your character’s passive stats in the game. For example, putting more points into Body will also increase your character’s Health. The breakdown of Attribute Passives is as follows:
ATTRIBUTE | PASSIVE BONUSES APPLIED EACH LEVEL |
Body |
+5 Health +3 Stamina +3 Damage with Fists and Gorilla Arms +1.5% Melee Damage -6% movement penalty while grabbing an enemy or holding a Heavy Machine Gun +5 Second Grapple Duration |

Technical Ability | +5% Armor |
Cool |
+2% Crit Damage +1% All Resistances +10% Stealth Damage -0.5% Enemy Detection +1 second enemy grapple duration |
Which Attributes Affect Which Skill Trees?
Each Attribute in Cyberpunk 2077 is also linked to specific Skill Trees. Your Attribute Level determines the highest level of Perk you can earn in that Skill Tree. Your Skill Trees also cannot level up higher than the points you have invested into its Attribute. For example, if you have a Cool Attribute stat of 10 your Ninjutsu Skill Tree will also cap out at 10.
The 5 Core Attributes of Cyberpunk 2077 are listed below with their corresponding Skill Trees:
- Body: Annihilation, Athletics, Street Brawler
- Reflexes: Handguns, Assault, Blades
- Intelligence: Breach Protocol, Quickhacking
- Technical Ability: Crafting, Engineering
- Cool: Ninjutsu, Cold Blood
How Attributes Affect Story Outcomes
Throughout the game you will be given several options on how to complete missions and explore the surrounding world. Some of these options will be linked to your character’s Attributes. Need to get to an enemy behind a heavy security door? Well, if you have enough Body Attribute points you can simply muscle your way in. Alternately, if you have enough Intelligence Attribute points you can hack the security system in order to open the door as well.

Weapons, Armor & Cyberware Restrictions
Some Weapons, Armor and Cyberware pieces can only be equipped if you meet a certain minimum Attribute Point level. This is most often the case with higher level and rarity items.
