Roach Race is a new mini-game added to Cyberpunk 2077 as part of Patch 1.6 – players can earn new rewards and challenge themselves with this fun addition to the game!

How To Play Roach Race in Cyberpunk 2077

Roach Race can be played within Cyberpunk 2077 by finding a Roach Race arcade game and interacting with it. Arcade games are frequently found in bars and other social areas within Night City.

TIP: Arcade Cabinets in Cyberpunk 2077 display different games every time you load in. If an Arcade does not display the Roach Race game simply reload the game to try again.

How To Win Roach Race

Winning Roach Race in Cyberpunk 2077 is simple: Jump, double-jump and glitch your way through as many stages as possible without getting hit! Along the way, Roach can earn power-ups to move faster, jump higher and earn bonus points, but be careful because Roach only has one life!

Players that earn scores in the Top 5 can earn bonus rewards including Eddies and unique items.

Roach Race Enemies

Roach Race includes two main enemy types: the Gryphon and the Crow. Both enemies have different movement patterns which must be avoided.

Gryphons

These enemies will charge at Roach, usually in a straight line but can sometimes move up or down or diagonally. Watch out for these especially in later stages!

Crows

These enemies fly up and down in one spot. Players should jump over or run underneath to avoid getting hit.

Roach Race Difficulty

The Roach Race mini-game in Cyberpunk 2077 does not have custom difficulty levels. Instead, each level in Roach Roach gets progessively more challenging as new enemies and obstacle types are added.

Roach Race Power Ups

The Roach Race mini-game has two power-ups: the Apple and the Carrot. Apples give you an immediate +20 score, while Carrots speed up Roach allowing you to jump slightly farther and earn points faster.

Apples give Roach an instant +20 points, while Carrots speed up your run speed and let you jump higher.

Roach Race Double Jump

Roach can perform a double jump to get apples that are too high up to reach with a normal jump or to leap over enemies to avoid death. To double jump, just tap the jump button a second time while Roach is still in mid-air.

How To Perform A Glitch Jump

Roach can also “glitch jump”, which immediately places him back on the ground and causes him avoid all damage for a few seconds. To perform a glitch jump, tap the jump button a third time while still in the middle of a double jump. Note that the glitch part of this maneuver which allows you to avoid damage has a short cooldown as shown by a small yellow bar that appears below Roach until the next glitch jump is ready.

Jumping 3 times in mid-air will glitch Roach back to the ground and make him temporarily invulnerable.

Roach Race Stages

The Roach Race mini-game in Cyberpunk 2077 includes 5 unique stages, each with its own backdrop environment. Each stage gets progressively more challenging with new enemies and obstacles added. Once you complete stage 5 you will progress to the next level and the stages repeat. Stage 1-1 is now Stage 2-1 and so on. When progressing to Stage 2 and above Roach automatically moves faster, making these stages even more difficult!

  • Stage 1: Plains
  • Stage 2: Castle Market
  • Stage 3: Forest
  • Stage 4: Mountain
  • Stage 5: Coast

Roach Race Rewards

Earning the #1 High Score in Roach Race will earn players:

  • The “Roach Whisperer” Special Outfit
  • A Threat Analysis Cyberware Mod
  • A Legendary Weapon Glitch Quickhack

Finishing in the Top 5 Scores will also earn the player some bonus Eddies.

Finishing with the Top Score in Roach Race awards the player the Roach Whisper Special Outfit.
